“It is in the compelling zest of high adventure and of victory, and in creative action, that man finds his supreme joys.”

Wide Open Travel specializes in the planning and execution of worldwide vehicle-supported adventure travel. In short, we seek out ways to make traveling the world a bit more hard-won. Our goal is to test the limits of ourselves and our equipment, as well as seek to protect threatened wild places throughout North America for their habitat and recreational values.
Kyle Martelli has spent more than a decade working in the automotive industry. His passion for automobiles is only exceeded by his passion for travel. Soon after turning 20 years old, Kyle set out on his first solo overland trip from his home in Southern California to the Darien Gap in Panama in a 98 Land Rover Discovery that he modified himself. He later completed the entire Pan-American highway, doing the South American portion by motorcycle. He has traveled overland in more than 45 countries across 5 continents. Whether it be by car, motorcycle, or bicycle; Kyle continues to challenge himself with various vehicle-supported overland excursions.
